What We Do

Inter-Institutional Sharing of Courses

VCT was charged at inception to facilitate sharing of individual distance learning courses among Texas two-year community colleges. Since becoming operational in the Fall Semester 1998, community colleges' collaborative sharing of courses through VCT has resulted in approximately-

  • 68,230 discrete course enrollments
  • 49,716 individual students served in individual semesters (Fall 1998 - Summer 2016)

The inter-institutional sharing indicated takes place under the terms of VCT's Host-Provider model developed by the Texas Association of Community Colleges.

Texas Quality Matters Consortium (TxQMC)

VCT leads a statewide Quality Matters consortium open to all community colleges. Quality Matters is a national nonprofit that provides research-based tools for implementation of quality assurance in course design, helping to facilitate the success of online learners. Benefits of membership in the TxQMC include:

  • Reduced individual institutional dues
  • Access to the automated, web-based tool
  • QM services and materials at discounted prices
  • Free institutional representative training
  • National and regional conferences on quality assurance in online learning

Of its member colleges, 47% currently are TxQMC members through VCT.
